Macau

Last weekend was more fun than one person could handle. That's why nearly 100 exchange students bought tickets for a Benni Bennasi pool party in Macau so we could all share the experience together. For the past three years there has been a "Splah" party at the HardRock Hotel in Macau, the Vegas of China, where featured DJs spin for a good 10 hours straight poolside. I was fortunate enough to be one of the hundreds of people who showed up this year.

Here is the website for some background info on the party itself, and another for the picture database

The day started with catching a ferry to Macau with my friend Nima. We left at 10am so we could get there and look around for a bit, but it ended up taking a lot longer to get there as originally planned. It was a good thing we left so early though, because the party started at 4pm (we ended up being the first people there however, and the first in the pool, so we probably could have left later and slept more). We took an hour long ferry to Macau, went through immigration, and then met up with a couple friends (Eli and George) and got some food and gambled at the Venice hotel. I was up 600HKD at one point, but lost it all on one spin of roulette (Choose red instead of black). It was fine though because i started with 100HKD, only a little more than 10USD, so for a good hour of entertainment and excitement i say it was worth it.

On a side note, George ended up leaving Macau down 3000HKD, so things could have been worse

Once we got to the poolside, everything sort of began to blur into one memory of lights and dancing and swimming and what not. 8 straight hours of music and chaos will do that to you. I didn't take any pictures, but there are a few of me taken by other people.

A nice example of the craziness of the night.

I left macau at 3am on a ferry, almost taking home Nima's wallet and passport, losing my shorts somewhere poolside, and forgetting Nim'a's drawstring bag on the ferry, losing his secondary pair of clothing and room key. All in all a good night. I fell asleep somewhere around 6am in my room.

I believe this is a good way to sum up the night

Untill next time!
